Artistic practice

For me, theater is a way of bringing joy to life through the continuous discovery of oneself, others, history, and new forms. But beyond that, theater can provide a space for resistance. I believe it is through action that we define ourselves within society, and making theater is my action. I began my artistic journey as a physical performer before developing my practice as a director.

In this process, the human body and voice are central to me as carriers of memory, identity, and trauma. My work is often inspired by traditional embodied forms and diverse sonic traditions, such as Baluchi, Kurdish, and Persian vocal forms. I am interested in incorporating these vocal scores and archival sounds and blending old resonances with new meanings through contemporary dramaturgies.

Over time, I have turned to informal and underground contexts. Such liminal space enabled me to explore how performance can address erased histories and disrupt official narratives of past and present events. In this exploration, I often work in dialogue with a dramaturg or playwright. Our process usually begins with a spark—it might be an idea, a piece of text, or a moment from history. It is through collective exploration that this spark grows into rehearsal and eventually into performance.
